Crème de la Mer Cool Gel Cream Review

Creme de La Mer Moisturizing Gel

Here’s my review of Crème de la Mer Moisturizing Cool Gel Cream

A little self-indulgence goes a long way

I know what you’re thinking? Because I’ve heard it all before. “You can find products that do the same thing for a lot less money, right?”

High-end luxury beauty products are often seen as vulgarism – an absurd waste of money.

About 15 years ago, I worked with a woman whose face was as smooth as a baby’s bottom. She casually mentioned that she used Crème da le Mer moisturizing gel daily. Fair enough, she looked about 10 years younger than she actually was. I’m not kidding, there wasn’t a blemish on her skin. I put it down to good genes.

I came to the conclusion that she was bragging, lying even. She didn’t spend as much on her wardrobe as she claimed to spend on her skin. I mean, who does that? None of it made any sense. And if she was spending that much on beauty products, I thought she really needed to get a reality check: a fool and their money are soon parted, I thought superciliously.

But the name of that cream stuck in my head, and 8 years later, I started to earn the kind of salary that had me adding a monthly trip to London’s Selfridges on my to-do list. Every time I went into the store, the Le Mer counter beckoned me. One day, I found myself hovering in front of the sales assistant.

Once you’ve made direct eye contact with the sales assistant, a strange sense of entitlement takes over, and you think that if you walk away without making a purchase, then she’ll know you can’t afford it. Hell, she’s probably thinking it already. Just look at her, staring down her nose at me!

And then she starts reeling off all the benefits of Crème de la Mer, your flaws and the solution, which just happens to be – La Mer.

Yes, I caved. I brought, I tried and I was hooked. And I’ve never regretted it.

I use the moisturizing cool gel cream, which is great for oily skin. A small jar lasts me about 7 months* and costs about £126.00.

I know the gel has marine collagen in it, which helps to reduce wrinkles and fine lines. (I’ll talk more about the benefits of marine collagen in a future blog post). Suffice to say, my skin glows, looks more healthy. and youthful.

It also removed the fine lines from under my eyes, so I didn’t bother to purchase their eye gel as I assume it has similar ingredients.
